šŸ„‚ A redemption masterclass (from one of you)

🚨 LAST CHANCE TO EARN 100K MILES 🚨

Ending Soon: The limited-time 100K offer on the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card (its best welcome offer in four years) ends Jan. 5, 2026. If this premium card has been on your radar, now’s the time to lock it in!

Good morning from lovely Amsterdam, where I’ve been experimenting with the optimal magic mushroom:stroopwaffel ratio (I’ll let you know when I crack the code).

Today, I’m going to tell you about an epic redemption from a Daily Drop reader who cracked the first-class redemption code for themself, so strap in.

A redemption pro masterclass (from one of you)

Every now and then, a reader redemption comes through that makes us stop what we’re doing, lean back in our chairs, and mutter, ā€œYeah… that’s the good stuff.ā€

This week’s winner: a Daily Drop reader who just locked in two seats in Lufthansa First Class on the 747 from Frankfurt to Mexico City for 160,000 Aeroplan points total, plus about $1,000 in taxes and fees.

For context, the cash price for this exact flight was around $12,700 one-way, so this is one of those ā€œI could never afford to do this without pointsā€ type of redemptions.

And somehow, that’s not even the best part.

Lufthansa first class hits different

Because the flight departed Frankfurt in the afternoon, this reader spent hours inside Lufthansa’s legendary First Class Terminal – which makes normal airports feel like a trash can.

We’re talking sit-down dining, private security, real showers (and bathtubs), personal attendants… and yes, private rides straight to the plane.

Oh – and after all that? A bonus night in Mexico City for tacos (obviously). 🌮

Here’s why this redemption is epic:

Lufthansa is famously stingy with its first-class awards – but Aeroplan often has access at solid rates when booking at the last minute.

Since you can transfer points to Aeroplan from most major credit cards, racking up Aeroplan points is quite easy.

Why Mexico City?

Well, this route (FRA-MEX) clocks in at 5,945 miles – which puts it BARELY within Aeroplan’s 4,000-6,000 mile distance band.

That means the absolute maximum amount of time in first class while paying this number of points.

Second, I suspect there’s less competition for first-class awards on this route compared with the U.S. routes (you won’t find any 200,000-point welcome offers on Mexican credit cards… at least as far as I know).

And then there’s the aircraft itself.

Lufthansa’s 747 First Class is becoming increasingly rare, and for a lot of aviation nerds, it’s a bucket-list ride.

It’s not flashy or trendy, but it is cool to sit in a seat right in the nose of the plane – putting you closer to the front of the plane than the cockpit (nerd alert).

Put it all together, and you’ve got the holy trinity:

  • āœ… The right program
  • āœ… The right route
  • āœ… The right plane

This isn’t one of those flights where it feels ā€œfree,ā€ which is often something we strive for in the points and miles world.

Instead, this is a bucket-list redemption booked with a heavy, HEAVY discount thanks to points and miles (this reader even opted to pay a little extra cash to make the points price more accessible).

We love to see it. And if you also love to see it, come hang out in the Daily Drop Lounge and share some of your own redemptions.

That’s it, friends! Short and sweet today.

Tune in tomorrow for another fun redemption story with useful travel tips.

Peace āœŒļø
