Our Mission

At Daily Drop, our mission is simple: to help you explore the world affordably and experience life-changing travel by maximizing miles and points. Our team of travel and credit card experts is here to help you make decisions about which cards belong in your wallet. Based on your travel goals, we offer unbiased advice to help you make the best choices. Keep in mind that our suggestions require responsible credit card use.

Rating Methodology

Here at Daily Drop, we score credit cards using a proprietary formula based on dozens of metrics across six key categories: annual fee, welcome offer, rewards rates, redemption value, benefits & perks, and travel protections. Higher scores indicate better overall value.

We net the annual fee against statement credits you'll likely use and focus on a welcome offer's true return on spending (ROI) rather than just the headline number. We value rewards by their actual worth in cents per point, which is why flexible, transferable points typically score highest. APR is not a standalone scoring category because we recommend paying in full to maximize points and miles, but an intro 0% APR counts as a perk.

Our reviews are editorial and experience-driven. Our team has earned and redeemed millions of miles and points and tested these cards around the world. After all, we would not be Daily Drop if we were not practicing what we preach.

Our Take

McKay MoffittMcKay Moffitt

The Hilton Amex Aspire does have a high annual fee, but it’s surprisingly easy to get more value out of it than you put in. The free night certificate alone can cover much of the cost, and the resort and airline credits add even more back in your pocket if you plan ahead (terms apply). Pair that with automatic Hilton Honors™ Diamond status (giving you upgrades, breakfast or dining credits, and lounge access), and this card can easily pay for itself for anyone who stays with Hilton even occasionally. For loyal Hilton guests, it’s less of a luxury and more of a reliable way to elevate every trip.

How to make the most of your Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card

When it comes to Hilton Honors Bonus Points, the best way to maximize your miles is to redeem them with travel.

[.dontreco] We don’t recommend: Redeeming points for Amazon purchases [.dontreco]

While it's possible to use your points for purchases on Amazon, the value per point is quite low. You’ll get much more value by using your points for hotel stays.

[.sometimesreco] We sometimes recommend: Booking through the Hilton Honors website [.sometimesreco]

Booking directly through the Hilton Honors website can offer decent value, especially during sales or promotions. However, you might not always get the highest value per point.

[.alwaysreco] We always recommend: Using points for stays at high-end properties [.alwaysreco]

The best value often comes from redeeming points for stays at high-end Hilton properties, such as Waldorf Astoria and Conrad hotels. These redemptions can provide significant savings, especially during peak travel times.

Transfer Partners

While the Hilton Honors Amex Aspire does have certain airline and hotel transfer partners, those ratios do not provide the best value for your points... or really any value for that matter.

Who Should Get The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card?

1. The Hilton Loyalist

If Hilton is your go-to hotel brand, this card is built for you. Automatic Diamond status means upgrades, breakfast or dining credits, and executive lounge access, all without much effort. Add the free night certificate each year and strong earning rates on Hilton stays, and it’s a great option for anyone who wants premium perks every time they check in.

2. The Frequent Traveler

If you’re always checking into hotels, the Aspire’s combination of credits, elite status, and travel protections can go a long way. The resort and airline credits can be easy to use with a bit of planning, and the card’s high earning rates at Hilton properties mean your stays keep funding your next trip. And even if you don’t travel constantly, the Aspire can still be worth it if you enjoy one or two special getaways each year. A single free night at a high-end Hilton, paired with the included perks, can help with the annual fee — and make those trips feel a lot nicer.

Who Should Not Get The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card?

Here’s a good rule of thumb: You probably shouldn’t own a credit card if you: (1) have a bad credit score, (2) are a non-U.S. resident (for this particular card), and (3) cannot control your spending. If your credit score is low, you'll need to improve it before applying for travel credit cards, as approval for the best ones, like the Hilton Amex Aspire Card, is unlikely. Be honest with yourself: if a new credit card will tempt you to overspend, it's best to avoid it. Credit cards are crucial for earning miles and points, but they require responsible use.
